Earlier today, The Rolling Stone announced that they would be postponing their first tour date for their Australia tour but now another announcement has been made saying the Stones are calling off their entire Australia, New Zealand tour.
The first tour date was supposed to take place on Wednesday 19 March 2014 and kick off the first Australia tour in nearly seven years for the band, USA Today reported.
A rep for the band broke the news to fans today. This news comes as a result of the news breaking about the death of longtime girlfriend to Mick Jagger, L'Wren Scott's apparent suicide. Scott and Jagger had been dating for over a decade.
All of the dates for the Australia and New Zealand tour have been postponed, the dates have not been cancelled. This includes an upcoming show at the Adelaide Oval which has been receiving a lot of hype and social media buzz.
The band issued an official statement in regards to the tour postponement, The Hollywood Reporter detailed.
"The Rolling Stones are deeply sorry and disappointed to announce the postponement of the rest of their 14 ON FIRE tour of Australia and New Zealand following the death of L’Wren Scott." The statement went on to explain, "Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood wish to thank all of their fans for their support at this difficult time and hope that they will fully understand the reason for this announcement."
