Coldplay and Imagine Dragons are set to play at SXSW. The music part of SXSW will run from March 11 to March 16 in Austin, Texas.
The music part of the festival started in 1987 as a way to showcase new talent. James Minor, the festival’s general manager told the LA Times, that SXSW “straddles the line between being an industry event and being a consumer event." The bands are assembled this year by Apple’s iTunes.
Fans will be able to watch Coldplay perform songs online during their live show. According to NME, the video service, Vevo, will be streaming the iTunes Festival. It’s likely that Coldplay might include tracks from their most recent effort, Ghost Stories. Their sixth album is due to be released on May 19.
In addition to Coldplay and Imagine Dragons, musicians who will are scheduled to appear at SXSW include Soundgarden, Band of Skulls, Kendrick Lamar, London Grammar, Lady Gaga, and Willie Nelson. Films are also scheduled to be seen at SXSW. The opening film of the year was Jon Favreau’s Chef.
