Denzel Washington is taking a splash in the new Broadway show, A Raisin in the Sun. The actor, known for his work on film, returns to the Broadway stage to play Walter Lee in the show.
According to the Associated Press, Washington said, "It's just a great opportunity - that's how I look at it. It's like getting back to your roots. It's going good. But around about the 70th show, I might be going, `What am I doing?”
This is a return to Broadway after Washington won a Tony award for his performance in Fences in 2010. Set in 1950s Chicago, A Raisin in the Sun centers on the struggling Younger family. They await a $10,000 insurance check and squabbles over how to spend it. This production of A Raisin in the Sun also features LaTanya Richardson Jackson, Anika Noni Rose, Bryce Clyde Jenkins, and Sean Patrick Thomas.
