Apple announced updated models of its MacBook Air line of notebooks, which will be slightly cheaper and feature improved battery life.

The two models, an 11-inch and 13-inch, both had $100 knocked off their price tags in an effort to better compete with cheaper PCs, according to a press release. The smaller screened model will feature 128GB of storage and run for $899, while the 13-inch model will come with 256GB of storage and cost $1,199. A $999 version of the 13-inch model is also available with 128GB of storage space.

"With MacBook Air starting at $899, there's no reason to settle for anything less than a Mac," Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vp worldwide marketing, declared. "Macs have never been more popular, and today we've boosted the performance and lowered the price of MacBook Air so even more people can experience the perfect everyday notebook."

The 11-inch model will last up to nine hours on a single batter charge and the 13-inch can go for 12 hours. They will feature the Intel Core i5, but can be upgraded to the i7 processor for an additional cost.

The new models will be available starting Tuesday, both online and in retail stores. Some Apple Authorized Resellers also might have them in stock.

Neither model offers Retina display, but 9to5Mac reported in March that there were rumors that Apple might be putting out a 12-inch model that would feature the a variety of new features, one of which would be Retina display. If the rumors are correct, the model would be out later this year.
