Actor Columbus Short has decided he will not be returning for the fourth season of ABC's hit drama Scandal.

The decision to leave the show comes as he is dealing with his wife accusing him of domestic abuse, according to The Hollywood Reporter. In a statement he said, "At this time I must confirm my exit from a show I've called home for three years."

He thanked creator Shonda Rhimes before thanking fans. "Thank you Gladiators, who have supported me throughout my entire career."

His last moments on the show were of his character, Harrison Wright, with a gun to his head as the third season came to a close.

The problems for Short started back in March when he was arrested for a felony battery charge stemming from a fight he got into at a bar. He knocked the man out during the fight.

In April, his wife, Tuere Short, filed for divorce and claimed he threatened to kill her. She also filed for a restraining order, saying that while drunk Short attempted to attack her with a wine bottle. He then also allegedly tried to slash her car tires as she drove away.

Tuere was granted the restraining order, which required Short to move out of their home. They couple have a 2-year-old daughter.
