Two earthquakes hit the Solomon Islands on Sunday, causing multiple tsunami warnings throughout the area.

The Associated Press reports that there are no reported injuries or damage at this time, however, immediately after the 7:14 a.m. shake, three large waves were seen nearby.

The 7.6 quake was followed by a 5.9 magnitude aftershock, according to BBC.

“We felt this one strongly in Honiara,” country director of World Vision, Andrew Catford, said. “It was close to 30 seconds long.”

While earthquakes are frequent in the area, locals were cautioned due to the possibility of a tsunami. In February, an 8.0 quake cause a tsunami which killed several people and left many homeless.

Higher grounded areas were evacuated during Sunday’s quake just to be safe. Locals are still dealing with the damages caused by flooding last week that left over 20 people dead.

“It has really been a tough time,” government spokesman George Herming said.

The Solomon Islands is located in the “Ring of Fire”, which is a constant area the Pacific Rim at risk for earthquakes and volcanic activity.
