Disney’s Marvel Studios likes to plan ahead and if what studio chief Kevin Feige said in a new interview is true, they have everything figured out for long time. Feige may have been joking, but he said that they have movies planned through 2028.
In an interview with Bloomberg Businessweek, Feige mentioned that he has maps of the studio’s future in his office. “It’s like looking through the Hubble telescope. You go, ‘What’s happening back there? I can sort of see it,’” he said with a laugh. “They printed out a new one recently that went to 2028.”
While it does sound as if Feige is just joking, the fact remains that Marvel really is planning far ahead. Captain America 3 is already scheduled for May 6, 2016 and the second film, The Winter Soldier, is just hitting theaters tonight. And Entertainment Weekly notes that Feige has talked about how far ahead into the future Marvel thinks.
The current Marvel Cinematic Universe really started in 2008 when Robert Downey Jr. first played Iron Man. This year, the studio has The Winter Soldier opening this week and then in August. The next Avengers movie, Age of Ultron is due out in May 2015. Ant-Man is also scheduled for 2016.
And there’s the Netflix Defenders shows, which will premiere in 2015.
