The best restaurants in the world were announced at the San Pellegrino World’s 50 Best Restaurant Awards on Monday in London.

The ceremony was attended by some of the world’s best chefs. Restaurant Noma, located in Copenhagen, took the number one prize this year, according to The Telegraph. Restaurant Noma is known for its avant-garde dishes and its local Danish ingredients.

According to CNN, Noma’s head chef, Rene Redzepi said, "In the last year (after the restaurant was awarded second place) my staff and I looked into each others' eyes and said 'let's just really really work hard.' We made a plan and said 'let's make this the best year we've ever had.'”

Other restaurants to be recognized this year include El Celler de Can Roca in Girona, Spain, Osteria Francescana in Modena, Italy, Eleven Madison Park in New York, and Dinner by Heston Blumenthal in London. The Sustainable Restaurant Award went to Azurmendi in Larrabetzu, Spain. World's Pastry Chef went to Jordi Roca at El Celler de Can Roca in Girona, Spain. World's Best Female Chef was named Helena Rizzo in Mani, Sao Paulo, Brazil. Chef's Choice Award went to Alex Atala, D.O.M. in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
