Transformers: Age of Extinction will be much more than just the fourth movie in the current Transformers franchise; it will serve as the kick starer for an entire new franchise.
Variety reported that director Michael Bay will use Transformers: Age of Extinction to set up another two new movies, creating an entirely new Transformers franchise.
Entertainment Weekly recently interviewed Bay, who explained the layout for these new two films. "It’s kind of like a new Transformers. The next…trilogy? “Yeah, it’s the first of a new trilogy," said Bay.
The director went on to say that this does not mean that he will be behind the next few films. “I’m not necessarily sure that I’m doing [the others], but that’s what it’s meant for.”
Extinction is the first movie that will not star Shia LaBeouf at the helm, instead it will feature Mark Wahlberg as the lead.
Transformers: Age of Extinction will be released in the United States on June 27.
