Two men, one a local politician, were found in eastern Ukraine after having been "tortured to death," which has resulted in the acting president of the splintered country to re-order military operations against pro-Russian militants.
Ukrainian acting President Oleksandr Turchynov said, "The terrorists who effectively took the whole Donetsk region hostage have gone too far," reports BBC News. The politician, identified as Vladimir Rybak was discovered by the city of Sloviansk. Police say that Rybak had gone missing not too long ago.
A Ukrainian military surveillance plane was also peppered with small arms automatic fire, according to the defense ministry, though the plane was able to safely return without any injuries.
The discovery and subsequent relaunch of "anti-terrorist measures" comes just as U.S. Vice President Joe Biden called on Russia to hold up its end of the Geneva agreement and get the pro-Russian forces to demobilize.
On Monday, Russian officials accused the whole escalating issue being the United States' fault. "Washington should realize in full measure its responsibility for those people they brought to power in Kiev," Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
Officials have claimed that the pro-Russians forces in eastern Ukraine were actually just peaceful demonstrators, despite kidnapping Kramatorsk's police chief. Lavrov also noted that Russia wouldn't ask the militants to step down until the U.S. did likewise with the interim Ukrainian government, directly comparing the two.
