The legendary guitar player for Aerosmith, Joe Perry, is set to release his memoir Rocks: My Life In and Out of Aerosmith in October, wanting to set the record straight.

According to Rolling Stone Perry has been waiting for the right moment to release the book since drummer Joey Kramer released his book Hit Hard: A Story of Hitting Rock Bottom at the Top in 2009 and Steven Tyler’s book Does the Noise in My Head Bother You? in 2011. Perry also noted Tyler’s book was from the singer’s point of view, but Perry stated, “I didn't agree with a lot of the things he said.”

Understanding how much of the history of the band has been published, with books and VH1’s Behind the Music, about how the band started, and during the tumultuous years leading to their break-up, Perry wanted to concentrate more on the last 20 years of their career since they got back together.

Not slowing down 40 years later, Aerosmith announced a summer tour with guitar icon Slash and his band in support. The Let Rock Rule tour begins July 10 in New York, making its way through the U.S. and ending with a single date in Canada on September 12. Perry noted after the tour wraps up, he will plan a book tour shortly before its release.
