Coldplay is back on the top of the charts in the U.K. with their latest album Ghost Stories. The new release went straight to the No. 1 spot on the charts and is now the fastest selling album of the year.

Reuters reported that this is the sixth studio album from the band and it has already sold 168,000 copies.

The previous fastest seller album was Paolo Nutini's Caustic Love which sold 109,000.

The chief executive of the Official Charts Company, Martin Talbot, spoke about what an achievement Coldplay has once again accomplished. "A new Coldplay album always makes a huge impact, and Ghost Stories is no exception. The boys have made it a perfect six Number 1s out of six albums today. That is some achievement!"

Coming in second place on the charts was Xscape which is a collaboration album that features unreleased Michael Jackson tracks.

BBC added that also making an appearance on the charts was Oasis with their 20th anniversary edition of Definitely Maybe which entered on the charts at No. 5.
