Actor Edgar Ramirez is reportedly in talks to join the Point Break remake, now that Gerard Butler has dropped out.

Butler backed out of the project last week, citing his packed schedule. He has to be in London to film the Olympus Has Fallen sequel, London Has Fallen, when production on Point Break was supposed to start.

The producers on Point Break moved quickly to get Carlos star Ramirez and are currently in talks, Variety first reported. He will play Bodhi, the character Patrick Swayze played in Kathryn Bigelow’s 1991 film.

Bigelow had her story center on an FBI agent investigating criminals by joining surfers. In the new film, surfing will be replaced with extreme sports.

Luke Bracey and Ray Winstone will co-star. Ericson Core is directing. Producers include Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove of Alcon with John Baldecchi, Chris Taylor and Kurt Wimmer.

Ramirez bust onto the international scene with Carlos, although he has mostly found supporting parts in films like Zero Dark Thirty (directed by Bigelow). According to TheWrap, his upcoming projects include Deliver Us From Evil with Eric Bana and Hands of Stone.
