Firefighters in California were able to make some progress against the fires on Saturday thanks to cooler temperatures and one man was arrested in connection with the small Oceanside fire.

Of the 11 fires currently burning in San Diego County, fire officials say that the Poinsettia, Highway, Freeway and River fires were all contained, reports KTLA. Since Tuesday about 25,000 acres have burned.

After a week of high temperatures, forecasts predict some cooler temperatures and even dense fog advisories around San Diego and Orange Counties.

The Marine Corps say that the Pulgas Fire, which is the largest blaze and has burned 15,000 acres, is about 40 percent contained.

As previously reported, thousands have been evacuated from their homes and the commencement ceremonies at California State University were cancelled.

As firefighters work to contain the numerous blazes consuming San Diego County, police arrested a man in connection with the Oceanside fire that burned about 105 acres, according to USA Today. Alberto Serrato has been accused of adding dead brush to bushes already smoldering. He has pleaded not guilty to the arson charge.

It isn't believed he started the Oceanside fire, merely helped it along. Police Lt. Sean Marshand said, "Unfortunately we don't have the guy that we really want."
