It has been five months since Justin Bieber egged his old neighbor in Calabasas, California and the case still isn’t settled. The neighbor has claimed that the pop star and his friends did over $20,000 in damage that night, which means that Bieber should be charged for a felony.

In the latest development of the case, the neighbor has told TMZ that he spoke with the deputy Van Nuys district attorney assigned to the case just last week. The DA said that it would not be feasible to charge Bieber with only a misdemeanor in the case.

“If we don't charge him with a felony we ruin precedent for every other felony case we want to charge,” the DA told the neighbor, according to TMZ.

Back in January, TMZ posted a video that shows Bieber and his friends throwing around 20 eggs at the neighbor’s home. That drew a surprisingly strong response from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, which it later had to defend. They search Bieber’s home for further evidence and detained the singer.

It was also reported that Bieber could face deportation from the U.S. if he is convicted with a felony in the case.

Just last month, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Detective Ginni Alvarez claimed in a search warrant that Bieber celebrated after pelting the home with eggs.

TMZ says that Los Angeles DA Jackie Lacey will likely have to make the ultimate decision on how to pursue the case herself. The office has yet to decide if Bieber will be charged with a felony or not.
