Iconic singer Robert Plant is gearing up to release his tenth solo album, and signed with Nonesuch Records, a subsidiary of Warner Bros. Records.
According to Billboard the Led Zeppelin frontman will release his new album with his current touring band, The Sensational Space Shifters.
"I'm pleased to find such a reputable home for our renegade departures," Plant said about his new label in a statement. "The support and encouragement we have received has been strong and refreshing."
Though armed with the voice of a Golden God, Plant usually sways away from most things Led Zeppelin, but the album is said to be harking back to his blues and psychedelic roots. Even at the recent New Orleans Jazz Festival he did several renditions of a Zeppelin classics including “Going To California”, with lyrics changed to Louisiana, and “Black Dog” toned down with an African beat and violin. Plant took a more traditional approach to “Bron-Y-Aur Stomp” and “What Is and What Should Never Be,” which were noted highlights of his set.
With a handful of dates throughout Europe until the end of June, he and the band will wrap up the album for a release later this year. There has been no official release date given for the album.
