Warner Bros. announced on Wednesday that the Point Break remake from Alcon Entertainment will hit theaters in summer 2015.
The film, which is still looking for someone to play the role of Bodhi, originally played by Patrick Swayze in the 1991, was set for an Aug. 7, 2015 theatrical release date, reports Deadline. The date will put Point Break against Fox's Assassin's Creed and Sony and Columbia's Goosebumps.
Butler was set to play Bodhi opposite Luke Bracey, who is playing Keanu Reeves' role of Johnny Utah, but he backed out last week due to a busy shooting schedule. Actor Edgar Ramirez might turn out to be his replacement as reported earlier. Ramirez has appeared in Carlos, Zero Dark Thirty and the upcoming Deliver Us From Evil.
Ray Winstone is also set to appear in the film, taking the role originally played by Gary Busey in the Kathryn Bigelow-directed version. Ericson Cole is helming the project and Broderick Johnson, Andrew Kosove, Chris Taylor, Kurt Wimmer and John Baldecchi are on board to produce.
