The Australian Women’s Weekly is winning praise for featuring a former model and burn survivor on their cover.
Turia Pitt was running in a marathon race in outback Australia when she encountered a bush fire, reported the Daily Mail.
With no other choice, Pitt ran through the bush fire and suffered burns to more than 60 percent of her body.
Initially, the editor in chief of The Australian Women’s Weekly, Helen McCabe, wanted Pitt to be featured on its Women of the Future panel, reported Yahoo Shine.
Pitt would have been selecting women to be featured in the publication, but McCabe decided she should be on the cover.
Pitt was humbled for the opportunity.
"For me, it sends the message that confidence equals beauty. There are a lot of women out there who are so beautiful but don’t have the confidence, and that's what gets you over the line,” she said.
The magazine has received positive feedback from social media users around the world, as well as readers of the magazine.
