Charges are expected to be filed on Tuesday against the man accused of fatally shooting one person and wounding two others at Seattle Pacific University.
The Associated Press reported that King County prosecutor Dan Satterberg called a news conference to announce charges against suspect Aaron Ybarra.
Authorities said that Ybarra allegedly opened fire and shot students last Thursday at the college campus before security monitor, Jon Meis, tackled him.
Meis pepper-sprayed the alleged gunman and brought him down to the ground in a chokehold, which allowed for other students and faculty to hold him there until police arrived.
Ybarra was arrested and taken into custody.
Had it not been for Meis’ heroics the situation could have been much worse. Investigators said that the 26-year-old allegedly had several rounds left and planned on killing many more people before shooting himself.
The AP noted that Ybarra’s lawyers said their client has had a history of mental problems.
He is being held without bail and is on suicide watch at the jail.
