An ex-track coach in Ohio was sentenced to 15 days in the slammer for having sex with a 17-year-old boy.
According to WBNS, on Monday, the former high school coach, Martina Stanley, 35, was convicted of having sex with the student and given a brief jail term plus a year probation.
The station reported that the defense team pointed out that even though Stanley was a coach at the same school the boy attended she was not one of his instructors. She knew him because they were neighbors.
"It's very important to understand here that the connection to her school - Elgin school - is completely coincidental," said defense attorney Todd Anderson.
The victim’s family agreed that the boy was not harmed by what happened, however, the prosecution said that such a case and crime needs to be taken seriously.
The Marion Star noted that in addition to her jail sentence and probation, the mother of four must also complete 60 hours of community service and register as a sex offender.
