Maleficient was Jolie’s passion project, has had tremendous staying power at the box office. According to the Escapist, Maleficent stayed in the top five films even into its fourth week, grossing over $13 million.

Eventually the film made a domestic total of $186 million. In international markets, the Jolie’s film raked in $44.7 million from 54 markets, including an $20.3 million debut in China.

Maleficent has earned $335.6 million internationally and $521.6 million in total.

By passing the $500 million mark, the film has also outgrossed Oz: The Great and Powerful, Disney’s other live-action prequel/reimagining of a longstanding fantasy property.
