Alexander Skarsgard isn’t taking a break after the end of True Blood. The Swedish actor is now busy in the U.K., where Warner Bros. is filming its long-gestating Tarzan.

The studio announced today this week that filming on the project is underway at its U.K. studios in Leavesden. There will also be location shooting throughout the U.K. David Yates, who directed the last four Harry Potter films, is helming the project, with The Golden Compass’ Henry Braham as director of photography.

Tarzan isn’t going to be the traditional origin film. Instead, the studio’s synopsis makes it sound like the film picks up with Tarzan already living in Africa with Jane already his wife. He is then invited to the Congo to work for Parliament, but he discovers that he’s just a pawn in a grand scheme set up by Captain Leon Rom.

Skarsgard is playing Tarzan, with The Wolf of Wall Street’s Margot Robbie as Jane. Christoph Waltz is playing Leon Rom. Samuel L. Jackson, John Hurt and Djimon Honsou also figure into the film at some point.

Jerry Weintraub (the Oceans trilogy) is producing with Cinderella’s David Barron. The film will be released in 3D and is, of course, based on the character created by Edgar Rice Burroughs.

Warner Bros. is hoping to release the film on July 1, 2016. It is a Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow Pictures co-production.
