Authorities are investigating whether the remains found in a remote area of Mexico are those of a missing American traveler.
According to CNN, Darren Del Sardo, an attorney for Harry Devert's mother, said officials in Guerrero discovered a Kawasaki motorcycle and a decomposed body of a man on Thursday.
The body has not yet been identified but Devert’s mother is said to have flown to Mexico on Saturday to compare the VIN number of the motorcycle that was found.
What happened to the 32-year-old Devert remains a mystery.
The avid traveler from Westchester, New York set out on a motorcycle journey from the U.S. to South America, but has not been heard from since January.
The last message Devert sent was via WhatsApp to tell his girlfriend that the Mexican military was escorting him out of a dangerous area. His worried family then began spreading the news about his disappearance on Facebook.
Devert was supposed to end his trip at the World Cup in Brazil.
