‘Weird Al’ Yankovic has a new album out this week, which means we will finally get the parodies of “Happy,” “Blurred Lines” and more that we have been eagerly waiting for. The first video for the album was just released and it’s bound to lighten up your Monday.
Yankovic teamed up with Nerdist to release “Tacky,” his rip-off of Pharrell Williams’ international smash “Happy.” The lyrics were changed to spoof awful-looking clothes and our addiction to social media. Only ‘Weird Al’ could write a song bashing our constant Instagram sharing of our meals and we’re still laughing.
The video features a slew of famous hilarious faces, including Kristen Schaal, Jack Black and Eric Stonestreet.
The iconic parodist announced last month that his new album will be coming out on July 15, which happens to be tomorrow. Mandatory Fun is his first album since 2011’s Apocalypse. In an interview with NPR, he suggested that this might actually be his last traditional album.
“I don't know that putting out 12 songs at once in this day and age is the best way for me to get my music out there, because if I'm waiting that long, chances are a lot of the material is going to be somewhat dated by the time it comes out,” he said.
According to Billboard, the tracklist will include “Word Crimes,” his parody of Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines.”
