Police arrested a 15-year-old boy in Southern California who was suspected of posting online threats to shoot students at high schools in the region, including his own.
According to the Associated Press, the teen was arrested after deputies searched his home. The threats were investigated late Saturday night after police received phone calls about school shooting threats posted on Instagram.
Photos of guns, dead bodies, and the sign for the high school were among those posted on Instagram. They have since been removed.
The photos of the guns were identified as stock images and no weapons were found in the teen’s home. The boy also did not appear to have a plan to shoot up his school, reported Reuters.
“We are aiming our guns mostly at high school students…Blood will be shed and families will suffer,” one post read.
It was not known if the teen had an attorney or what charges he would face.
