Fox 2000 is prepping its long-gestating All Summer Long, a jukebox musical with The Beach Boys songs. The studio has found its first star, model Cara Delevingne.
Delevingne, who is going to appear in Joe Wright and Warner Bros.’ Pan, is in talks to join the project, Deadline reports. It’s not clear what part she will have, but one of the “California Girls” doesn’t sound like a far-fetched guess.
The script was written by Susannah Grant and is based on her 2010 pitch to the studio. Back then, Fox 2000 spent $2 million to acquire it, but there hasn’t been much movement to get the film made. However, it was one of the projects that won the lottery for a tax credit from the California Film Commission.
According to TheWrap, producers John Stamos, Craig Zadan and Neil Meron have picked The Vow helmer Michael Sucsy to direct. Stamos has a long relationship with the Beach Boys, having produced the TV movie The Beach Boys: An American Family and also frequently performs with them.
Delevingne recently appeared in Wright’s Anna Karenina for her first acting gig and also stars in The Face Of An Angel, which premieres at the Toronto International Film Festival in September.
It should be noted that a non-fiction film about the Beach Boys and their creative force, Brian Wilson, is also in the works. That project stars Paul Dano as Wilson.
