Those wondering just when they will get to see the latest David Cronenberg movie Maps to the Stars have now gotten an answer. At least, sort of. Following its acquiring, Focus World has announced that they will be releasing the movie in early 2015.

As Variety covers, the movie, starring Julianne Moore, John Cusack, Mia Wasikowska, Robert Pattinson and Olivia Williams, has just gotten U.S. distribution rights from the Focus Features division company. Despite earning high marks following its premiere at this year's Cannes Film Festival, and subsequently set to be shown at the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival and New York Film Festival, the movie will not be making an awards effort.

What is most unusual about this announcement and its lack of confidence is how Moore was considered having a solid chance of being nominated for her performance in the movie, before this statement. In fact, Moore's performance won her Best Actress at Cannes. Although, there is the small chance that the movie will be making a brief New York or California theatrical release as to get Moore's name in the door. But, for the time being, that is not in the cards for the Cronenberg movie.

It is unclear if this early 2015 release will be selectively in theaters or through VOD and select theaters at the moment. Handling the release of the movie outside the U.S. is EOne Films. Canada is among the first to see the movie, as they have it set to be released on October 31.
