Jessica Chastain is nearing in on a major role for Xavier Dolan’s English-language debut, The Death and Life of John F. Donovan.
The Wrap learned that Dolan first began to seek Chastain out after learning that she’d praised his film Mommy on Twitter. No formal deals have been made, but Dolan and Chastain are reportedly interested in working together.
"It dawned on me that I should ask Jessica about playing the 'villain' role in John F. Donovan," Dolan told Indiewire.
According to Dolan, The Death and Life of John F. Donovan centers on a successful American movie star who maintains a secret correspondence with an 11-year-old in London. Chastain’s “villain” is a character who wants to wreak havoc on the lives of stars.
Chastain has been busy recently, and will appear in the upcoming films Interstellar, The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby, Crimson Peak and A Most Violent Year.
Shooting for The Death and Life of John F. Donovan will start in 2015 in Montreal, New York, Miami, England and Eastern Europe.
