Unfortunate news for many fans of Culture Club that were hoping to see the band perform on their reunion tour: they'll have to wait a little longer.

Culture Club announced a reunion tour earlier this year, leaving many fans eager to grab tickets. Unfortunately, the band was forced to cancel their scheduled tour dates when a polyp was discovered on singer Boy George's throat, according to Billboard. In order to avoid undergoing an operation, Boy George's doctor ordered him to rest his vocals, forcing the band to cancel their reunion tour. The band was only two days away from their first tour date in Rancho Mirage, California.

The band released a statement about the cancellation on November 13. It read, "It is with great regret that the members of Culture Club have announced the cancellation of their tours in North America and the UK scheduled for November and December 2014."

For now, dates have been cancelled, though the band is hoping to reschedule dates. In their statement, they expressed how devastated they were that they had to cancel dates and that ticket holders are entitled to a full refund for tickets if they have already been purchased.

Boy George released his own separate statement on his personal Facebook page. He explained that he had been having problems with his voice for a few months before his manager suggested he go see a throat specialist, who discovered the polyp.

He further explained that if he were to continue singing, it would cause more damage to his voice, and eventually, the damage would become irreparable.

Culture Club has recorded a new album, Tribes, that is still set to be released next year.
