A piece of movie history is up for sale, but because it’s a mansion, it’s a bit more expensive than a movie poster or an autograph. It’s the mansion featured in one of the greatest films ever made, Francis Ford Coppola’s The Godfather.
The mansion is being put up for sale by Connie Profaci Realty, which is based in Staten Island. The asking price is $2.89 million.
The mansion hosted Connie Corleone’s wedding, which famously takes up a significant chunk of the first hour of the 1972 film. Coppola filmed Don Corleone’s death scene in the backyard. It’s a 6,248-square mansion on a 24,000-square foot open expanse.
Obviously, the real estate agency isn’t afraid of using the famous movie connection as a selling point. However, managing principal Joseph R. Profaci told People that the mansion has undergone significant improvements. While the interior wasn’t used in the movie, the current owners did their best to make it look like it could have been.
“The home was completely renovated, and the owners really tried to evoke some of the period's style,” Profaci told the magazine. He said that the office in the mansion was recently made to look like the one in the film.
Reuters notes that the mansion includes a gym, playroom, game room, five bedrooms and seven bathrooms.
The Godfather won three Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Actor for Marlon Brando.
