Downloading and watching movies illegally has become a major issue for movie studios, but they are finally starting to fight back.

Film distributor Village Roadshow is lowering the cost of owning digital copies of their movies, starting with The Expendables 3, which flopped at the box office, earning only $15.9 million during its opening weekend, Forbes reported.

The studio believes that part of the reason the action star packed movie did so terrible in movie theaters is because of illegal downloads and illegal streaming of the movie. According to The Sydney Morning Herald, the movie was downloaded illegally more than 5 million times.

With the new prices, people will be able to download and own a digital copy of The Expendables 3 for $15.99, down from the previous price of $19.99.

It's apparent that the film industry is no longer going to stand idle while piracy occurs. Movie theaters recently banned customers from wearing Google Glass in the theater and are even offering a $500 award to employees who catch someone illegally recording a movie.
