First Surge, then Crispy M&M’s and now French Toast Crunch. Yes, General Mills has heard our pleas, so the bizarre French Toast Crunch cereal is coming back, all thanks to social media.

In a blog post over the weekend, the makers of Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Cheerios, Cocoa Puffs and other cereals, announced that the cereal will be back nationwide by the end of January. The company said that it saw the love consumers share for the product on Twitter and other social media sites.

“We have been overwhelmed by the consumer conversations, requests and passion for the cereal to come back,” Waylon Good, General Mills marketing manager, wrote.

According to The Star Tribune, the cereal was first introduced in 1995, but was discontinued in 2006. While you could still get it in Canada, fans in the U.S. have been calling for its return ever since. We have had to actually make real French Toast to enjoy the taste at breakfast.

French Toast Crunch, which was a sticky, crunchy cereal in the shape of bread slices that was supposed to taste like French Toast, is the latest discontinued food item to make a comeback due to popular demand. SURGE from Coca-Cola was re-released in September, while the return of Crispy M&M’s was announced in October.
