‘Terminator: Genisys’ trailer to be released on Thursday

Paramount is poised to finally show the first footage from Terminator: Genisys, which will hopefully look much better than the lackluster photos fans were shown last month.

The film’s official site currently has a countdown clock, revealing that the first trailer will be released on Thursday afternoon.

The site also has a motion poster, which shows the iconic Terminator endoskeleton skull disintegrating. It also features the equally iconic score from the franchise.

Fans have plenty of reasons to be a little cautious with this film, since the franchise’s last two movies have been underwhelming. The stills Entertainment Weekly showed off in November gave us no reason to believe that this film would suddenly change the franchise around.

Genisys begins in 2029, with the Future War already underway. John Connor (Jason Clarke) sends Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) back to 1984, just like in the original Terminator, to stop a Terminator from killing Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke). However, in this new universe, an older T-800 model (Arnold Schwarzenegger) has adopted Sarah.

Paramount and Skydance have high hopes for the film, since they have already scheduled sequels for 2017 and 2018.

Terminator: Genisys opens on July 1, 2015.
