Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have already worked together on two projects, 2005's Mr. and Mrs. Smith and Jolie's upcoming By the Sea. Now, they're gearing up for their third. Brad Pitt is in negotiations to star in Africa, Jolie's fourth trip behind the director's chair.

As The Wrap gathered, Pitt is in talks to star as Richard Leakey, the famed archeologist who became a stern defender of elephants against poachers in Kenya during the late '80s. The film reunites Pitt with his Curious Case of Benjamin Button screenwriter Eric Roth.

Speaking of reunions, Africa finds Roger Deakins lensing the film, after previously working with Jolie on last year's Unbroken. His work on the latter is currently putting him in contention for Best Cinematography at the Oscars.

Jolie produces Africa alongside Jon Peters and Skydance's David Ellison and Dana Goldberg. Production is aiming to start as soon as this summer, once Jolie finishes up work on By the Sea, which is currently in post-production after shooting last fall. By the Sea is expected to come to theaters sometime this year. While Jolie also wrote and starred in that film, it looks as though Jolie solely will remain a director and producer on this biopic.

Pitt was last seen on screen in last year's Fury, which he also executive produced. Pitt also served as an executive producer on the Best Picture nominated Selma and True Story, the latter of which is currently premiering at the Sundance Film Festival.
