SXSW announced more Film Conference events, including conversations with Ryan Gosling, Sally Field, Amy Schumer and Michael Shannon. In addition, more films were added to the already daunting line-up.
Up first is a keynote address from Christine Vachon, a trailblazer in the indie film community. She founded Killer Films in 1995 and has produced several acclaimed films, including Boys Don’t Cry, Far From Heaven, I’m Not There and Velvet Goldmine. She also executive produced HBO’s Mildred Pierce. Her most recent work includes the Oscar-nominated Still Alice.
Gosling will speak on Friday, March 13 to discuss the making of Lost River, his first film as director. The film will also be screened at the festival.
Field stars in Hello, My Name Is Doris, which has its world premiere at the festival. Schumer will get to chat about her first film, Judd Apatow’s Trainwreck, which will also be screened. Shannon will participate in a conversation with his Take Shelter director Jeff Nichols, who also directed Mud in 2013.
Lastly, journalist. Henry Rollins, the star of He Never Died, will also participate in a conversation.
Four more films were added to the line-up. Antoine Bardou-Jacquet’s Moonwalkers will have its world premiere. The action comedy stars Rupert Grint and Ron Perlman.
The other additions are Betzabe Garcia’s Kings of Nowhere; Dean Stockwell and Neil Young’s Human Highway (Director’s Cut); and the fan shot-for-shot remake of Raiders of the Lost Ark. The Raiders dilm is the subject of a documentary that is also screening at the festival.
Earlier this month, SXSW announced the first 145 movies that will be screened at the festival.
