If you ever wanted an Egg McMuffin in the afternoon or a McGriddles sandwich for dinner, McDonald’s is making that wish come true. The burger chain is reportedly starting to test offering breakfast all day long.

As with most fast food tests, the scope starts out very limited. The all-day breakfast will be tested first in just the San Diego area in April, reports CNBC.

“We look forward to learning from this test, and it's premature to speculate on any outcomes,” spokeswoman Terri Hickey told CNBC. “We're excited to serve our customers in this area some of McDonald's great-tasting breakfast sandwiches, hash browns and other favorites all day long.”

“Our industry sources inform us that McDonald's US plans to test all-day breakfast — breakfast items for sale throughout the 24-hour day — in one domestic market, with the test set to begin within the next month or two,” Janney Capital Markets firm also said in a research note today.

Usually, McDonald’s switches to the regular menu at 10:30 a.m. during the week and 11 a.m. on the weekends.

While this sounds like a great idea for the chain, especially as breakfast becomes more and more competitive within the fast food industry, Business Insider notes that it could pose operational problems. McDonald’s grills just don’t have the space for making both burgers and McMuffins at the same time.

Still, today’s news might finally explain why McDonald’s reportedly tried to trademark the phrase "McBrunch" last year.
