The past is the key that unlocks the future for many of the characters in this week’s new films. While the undead terrorize innocent people in some plots, other films are based on true stories. The sequel to a popular 2014 also joins the box office race.

Tris and Four are fleeing from the powerful Jeanine in The Divergent Series: Insurgent. In order to save those closest to her, Tris must uncover secrets from her family’s past before Jeanine and the Erudite leaders alter the future of their world. The PG-13 sci-fi adventure runs for one hour and fifty-eight minutes. The film stars Shailene Woodley, Naomi Watts, Kate Winslet, Maggie Q, Ray Stevenson, Mekhi Phifer and Zoe Kravitz.

A former secret agent discovers that there are assassins out to get him in The Gunman. In order to figure out who is targeting him, he must delve into the secrets of his past. Sean Penn and Javier Bardem star in the one hour and fifty-five minute thriller. The action film is rated R for violence, language and sex.

A woman starts behaving strangely after getting a nail stuck in her head in Accidental Love. The effects of the accident put a strain on her relationship with her fiancé, ending their engagement. She then heads to Washington D.C. to help others with bizarre conditions and falls for a Senator. The PG-13 romantic comedy stars Jake Gyllenhaal, James Marsden, Jessica Biel, Tracy Morgan, Catherine Keener, James Brolin and Kirstie Alley. The film is playing in limited theaters for one hour and forty minutes.

To help get out of debt, a young man joins a group that commits crimes using the art of parkour in Tracers. When the robberies become increasingly intense, he searches for a way out. Taylor Lautner stars in the limited released suspense film. The PG-13 action packed thriller runs for one hour and thirty-four minutes.

A former rock star finds a letter from John Lennon written to him forty years earlir in Danny Collins. Inspired by Lennon’s sentiments, the musician thinks about the what ifs and tries to right the wrongs in his life. The one hour and forty-six minute comedic drama is based on a true story and stars Al Pacino, Annette Bening, Christopher Plummer, Jennifer Garner and Bobby Cannavale. The limited released film is rated R for language, drugs and nudity.

A deadly television series takes a humorous turn with the limited released film The Walking Deceased. The Walking Dead parody mocks the survivors of the apocalypse as they battle zombies to stay alive. The comedic horror film plays for one hour and twenty-eight minutes. It’s rated R for sex, violence, language and drugs.

A group of friends reminisce about old times when one decides to leave New York City and head home to Ohio in Growing Up and Other Lies. Their walk down memory lane opens old wounds and causes conflict among the group. The film stars Adam Brody, Danny Jacobs, Wyatt Cenac, Josh Lawson and Amber Tamblyn. The limited released comedy plays for one hour and thirty minutes.

Twelve different groups of people from different walks of life come together in Do You Believe?. Each of their stories demonstrates the power of God. Sean Astin, Mira Sorvino, Madison Pettis, Lee Majors, Cybill Shepherd, Alexa PenaVega and Ted McGinley star in the PG-13 drama. The one hour and fifty-five minute drama is available in limited theaters.

A couple’s camping trip turns into a nightmare in Backcountry. The two get lost in the woods with a black bear on the hunt. The unrated suspense thriller is based on a true story. It’s running in limited theaters for one hour and thirty-two minutes.

Following the death of his mother, a young man spirals out of control in Spring. He escapes to Italy and falls for a mysterious young woman with a terrifying secret. The unrated romantic horror film runs for one hour and forty-five minutes. It’s available in limited theaters.

College students on vacation are terrorized by deadly creatures in Zombeavers. The ferocious beavers that live in the swamp near their cabin kill those that come in their path. Bill Burr and John Mayer make cameo appearances in the limited released film. The comedic horror film runs for one hour and seventeen minutes. It’s rated R for violence, sex, nudity and language.

The relationship between two best friends in New York City is challenged in Lily & Kat. Things begin to change for the inseparable pair when one friend announces she’s moving to London in less than a week. Within that time, tensions rise when they both fall for an up and coming artist. The unrated comedic drama is playing in limited theaters for one hour and thirty minutes.

Set in Patagonia in 1882, Jauja tells the story of a man who crosses enemy lines on a mission to find his daughter. His search brings him on a solo journey through the desert. The one hour and forty-eight minute Danish film is subtitled in English. The unrated drama is available in limited theaters.

There are quite a few celebrities starring in this week’s new releases. Next week, Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart join forces in Get Hard. Jennifer Lopez and Jim Parsons lend their voices for the DreamWorks animation Home, also debuting on March 27.
