Marvel Games and Telltale Games announced Thursday that they are joining forces to produce console and PC games, with the first one coming out in 2017.
Telltale officially announced the partnership with a short statement on its company blog.
“Announced this evening in San Francisco, we're excited to reveal an all-new partnership with the incredible team at Marvel Entertainment,” the statement reads. “We'll be teaming up on the development of an upcoming Telltale game series project set to premiere in 2017!”
“We've been busy,” executive producer Jones told IGN before the announcement. “It takes a long time to find the right partner. We have one special game we're excited about.”
Apparently, the new games for Marvel will put authenticity - as authentic as a video game featuring fictional superheroes can be - as a top priority. However, there was no word on what the first game would be, what characters it will feature and if the story will have anything to do with the comics or the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Telltale is the studio behind The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, Tales from the Borderlands and The Wolf Among Us games.
As for Marvel, Avengers: Age of Ultron hits theaters on May 1 and Ant-Man is due out on July 16.
