Director Josh Trank has left the second Star Wars Anthology film.

Deadline reported that Trank, who is known for his work on 2012's Chronicle and the upcoming reboot of the Fantastic Four announced his leaving on StarWars.com.

Trank explained the reasons behind the departure are related to unspecific "personal" reasons.

His statement read; "After a year of having the incredible honor of developing with the wonderful and talented people at Lucasfilm, I'm making a personal decision to move forward on a different path. I've put a tremendous amount of thought into this, and I know deep down in my heart that I want to pursue some original creative opportunities. That said, the Star Wars universe has always been one of my biggest influences, and I couldn't be more excited to witness its future alongside my millions of fellow Star Wars fans."

He went on to explain that Star Wars had been an influence on him since his childhood and he ended his statement by saying, "May the Force be with you all."

The film, which has yet to be titled, is set to be released in 2018.

Rumors started at Star Wars Celebration in California that Trank might be leaving the project when he did not attend the gathering. He was supposed to be a part of a panel that would be discussing these upcoming Anthology films. Instead only Director Gareth Edwards attended who is directing the first Star Wars Anthology film, Rouge One.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is set to be released on Dec. 18, 2015 with J.J. Abrams directing this next chapter in the saga.
