The cover that took twelve years to happen, has happened. Ryan Adams covered Bryan Adam's "Summer of 69" when he played the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville on Tuesday night. In an odd musical role reversal, Ryan Adams put his own acoustic twist on the rock classic.

Contact Music reported that this performance comes twelve years after Adams had someone removed from his concert that yelled that Adam's should play "Summer of 69."

After that incident took place, Adam's did refund the concerts goer admission fee and allowed him to come back into the concert. Now it seems as though Adams has had a change of heart and is embracing the single.

E! Online reported that when the cover song started, cheers could be heard from the crowd.

"Summer of 69" was not the only classic covered, he also played Patrick Swayze's "She's Like the Wind' with vocal backing provided by opening act, Natalie Prass.

Adams will continue his tour making stops in Tampa, Charleston, Atlantic and Miami.
