Speculation that Adam Driver might be playing the villain in Star Wars: The Force Awakens appears to be confirmed thanks to a Vanity Fair video. The magazine unveiled its Star Wars issue cover on Sunday, just before today’s celebration of Star Wars day.
In the video, which was posted on Vanity Fair’s website, shows photographer Annie Leibowitz taking her shots for the issue. In addition, we see Driver in an all-black outfit that looks similar to the one villain Kylo Ren has been seen wearing in previous promotional material.
There is also a shot of Lupita Nyong’o wearing a motion capture outfit, which suggests that the Oscar winner will be playing a CG character. Andy Serkis is also in the film, so he should have been able to help her out when it comes to mo-cap acting.
Gwendoline Christie, whose character also hasn’t been revealed, can also be seen in the video.
Director J.J. Abrams made a big deal about the characters played by Daisey Ridley, John Boyega and Oscar Isaac at Star Wars Celebration last month, introducing them as the saga’s new trio.
Boyega, Ridley and Harrison Ford are all seen on the cover. Abrams said even he was surprised by how much fun Ford had playing Han Solo for the first time in 30 years.
Ford ““was excited to get back in those shoes again, which was really interesting because I thought he hadn’t been a fan. I kept hearing those rumors when I was a kid,” Abrams told Vanity Fair. “I knew that he had done in some movies a kind of more growly thing, and I didn’t want Han to be growly.”
The Force Awakens hits theaters on Dec. 18. Vanity Fair’s special issue will be out on May 12. The digital edition will be available on May 7.
