When the Girl Scouts realized that they had just received a $100,000 donation, they were thrilled. However, there was a catch that they were not going to tolerate.
According to Seattle Met, Megan Ferland, the council’s CEO was informed that a donor gave the organization a huge donation that not only met the annual donation goal but also was going to allow 500 young girls attend camp.
However, the donor had one small request written along with the check. “Please guarantee that our gift will not be used to support transgender girls. If you can’t, please return the money.”
Saddened by the circumstances, Ferland returned the check because she knew that the organization was meant for every type of girl.
“Girl Scouts is for every girl,” she said. “And every girl should have the opportunity to be a Girl Scout if she wants to.”
The organization released a video via Indiegogo asking for people to support and help raise the $100,000 back so that those 500 girls would be able to go to camp, after all.
In just a few short days, they met the goal and are now asking that they keep the donations coming so 500 more underprivileged girls can attend camp, as well.
