Sam Smith is allowed to speak again following vocal chord surgery. Smith wasn't allowed to speak for three weeks after the surgery and will not be able to sing for an additional three to five weeks.

The "Stay With Me" singer announced that the ban on talking had been lifted on Instagram by posting a picture of Ariel from Disney's The Little Mermaid, with the caption "I CAN SPEAK AGAIN!!!!!!!!"

Smith also expressed his thankfulness to his surgeon, Doctor Zeitels (Massachusetts General Hospital) with another posting. "Completely overwhelmed. Thank you so much Doctor Zeitels for everything. You have truly saved me this past few months. Such an amazing man. You truly truly truly don't know what you got until you lose it. I have fallen in love with music all over again over this past month, and more than ever I feel so blessed to be able to sing and do what I love every day xx."

As previously reported Smith had to undergo surgery after a hemorrhage was discovered on his vocal chords. The surgery and extended recovery time forced Smith to cancel some of his upcoming tour dates.
