Ever wonder why there are so many Minions but none of them are female? Minions creator Pierre Coffin has an explanation for this.
While the Despicable Me prequel has become a hit at the box office, snatching up the second-best animated opening ever with $115 million in sales at the box office this past weekend, its tiny yellow stars are all male.

Coffin told The Wrap the reason behind it is because of how idiotic they can be. “Seeing how dumb and stupid they often are, I just couldn’t imagine Minions being girls,” he explained.
The Minions have been a hot topic lately, not only because of the highly-anticipated film but because of the McDonald’s toy that comes with Happy Meals. Parents have complained that the toy utters the profanity “What the f---,” but the fast food company has chalked it up to nothing less than the toy speaking “Minionese,” which is a “random combination of many languages and nonsense words and sounds.”
