The Minnesota dentist who killed the beloved Zimbabwe lion, Cecil, last July said he is reopening his practice.
Walter Palmer told the Associated Press that he is returning to his dental practice on Tuesday.
As we previously reported, after the news broke that Palmer killed the lion he faced public backlash, death threats and closed his practice. Now, the 55-year-old is hoping to return to work and “get his professional and personal life back on track.”
Palmer had Cecil killed in what he said he thought was a legal hunt at Zimbabwe’s Hwange National Park. He later spoke out about killing the lion.
“I had no idea that the lion I took was a known, local favorite, was collared and part of a study until the end of the hunt. I relied on the expertise of my local professional guides to ensure a legal hunt,” Palmer said in a statement.
The two men who assisted him with the hunt are facing prison time and are due in court on Sept. 28. Palmer, however, has yet to be charged with any crime.
