Rhianna is best known for her music career but she has dabbled in the movie industry. She will venture there once more as she landed another movie role.
Variety reports that Rihanna has joined the cast of Luc Besson’s epic Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets. Besson confirmed the news on his Instagram account.
Joining her is Clive Owen, Dane DeHaan, and Cara Delevingne. Filming begins this coming January in France and they plan for a July 21, 2017 release. Rihanna’s role in the film is not yet known but Besson describes it as a “big role.”
The pop star has some experience in film. She appeared in Battleship and had a voice role in Home. Valerian is adapted from Pierre Christin and Jean-Claude Mezieres’ graphic novel which takes place in the 28th century where humanity discovers time travel.
Besson’s latest film, Lucy, with Scarlett Johansson, grossed $126 million in the U.S. and $458 million worldwide.
