Chris Martin has been through a lot the past few years but opened up about his journey during an appearance on an Australia radio show.
Martin was featured on 2DayFM's "Rove & Sam" show and explained that a few years ago he was in a low place in his life. It took a friend offering a reading suggestion that really helped him to turn this around.
"Then some friends gave me a book calledMan's Search for Meaning and a poem called 'The Guest House' by Rumi, who was an Afghanistani poet and kind of a teacher," he said. "And those those two things started me off on this whole journey that's ended up a few years later now where I just feel so happy to be alive.
"That may sound a little simple but I suddenly feel very grateful for all these things in my life, I just feel happy to be alive and if it's coming across then that's cause it's real."
As previously reported, Martin and his ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow finalized their divorce back in April and the two are now co-parenting their children, Apple, 11, and Moses, 9.
The lead singer for Coldplay is also back to focusing on music. The band just released their new single "Adventure Of A Lifetime," which will be featured on their upcoming album A Head Full Of Dreams. Dreams will be released on Dec. 4.
