Disney showed off a second Star Wars: The Force Awakens commercial during last night’s TGIT Thursday night programs on ABC. Sure, there probably isn’t much audience crossover between Grey’s Anatomy and Star Wars, but it was yet another opportunity for the studio to advertise the movie to the widest possible audience.
The one-minute spot includes a couple of new blink-and-you’ll-miss-it shots. In one, we see Han Solo (Harrison Ford) hand Rey (Daisy Ridley) a blaster. Another shot shows the Resistance leadership meeting, including the red-armed C-3PO. And the most exciting new shot shows Finn (John Boyega) try to slash a Stormtrooper’s blaster in half with a lightsaber to negative results.
The first Force Awakens teaser appeared last week and focused mostly on Rey. There was also a Japanese trailer, which showed even more footage.
The Force Awakens opens on Dec. 18, although at this point, it feels like we’ve already seen at least a third of the film. It was directed by J.J. Abrams.
