AMBI Group, the company that made a splash last month by announcing plans to remake Memento, announced today that it is developing a biopic about Ferruccio Lamborghini.
The company, run by Andrea Iervolino and Lady Monika Bacardi, hopes to start filming in Italy this summer. It will be based on the book by Lamborghini’s son and will cover his entire life, delving into the development of the world-famous carmaker.
No writer or director was announced today and AMBI has yet to cast the lead role.
“I am very proud to produce a film about an iconic man who had such a profound impact around the world, and left a legacy that lives on in such strong spirit,” Iervolino said in a statement. “Ferruccio Lamborghini was a pioneering businessman who brought honor to Italy and helped raise worldwide awareness for not just cars, but all products made in Italy. He started from scratch, relying only on his great passion and an unbridled desire to succeed in life – a desire he fulfilled.”
AMBI is just getting off the ground and surprised everyone by announcing in November that it is planning on remaking Christopher Nolan’s breakthrough classic Memento. The company is also making James Franco’s In Dubious Battle and has a couple of animated films in the works. The company was also behind The Humbling with Al Pacino and is making “an homage” to La dolce vita.
