The group Chicago will not be reuniting with former frontman Peter Cetera when they are inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next year.

Ultimate Classic Rock noted that keyboardist and co-founder of the band, Robert Lamm, said that Cetera would at least sing with the group, but probably wouldn’t play bass. Well it turns out that Cetera isn’t doing either.

Lamm’s announcment was pretmature as it is not even known if Cetera will attend the event.

Lamm told Billboard via an email that he was mistaken about the former band member playing with them for the April 8 ceremony.

"I've mistakenly said Cetera would be playing," he said. "He has emphatically declined. My email exchanges with Cetera were misinterpreted by me and I've apologized to him and likewise apologize to the music press community and fans."

Cetera sang the lead vocals for some of Chicago’s biggest hits including “You're the Inspiration,” “Hard To Say I'm Sorry” and "Baby, What a Big Surprise,” but left the band to pursue a solo career in 1985.
